Countdown for Nintendo Switch 2: Its processor has leaked!

Ana sayfa / Games

The Nintendo Switch, released in 2017, has become one of the best-selling game consoles in history, with over 129 million units sold to date. During this time, Nintendo released OLED and Lite versions of the Switch. However, due to its approximately 7-year-old hardware, it has started to face significant challenges in running new games like “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.” As a result, there have been rumors and news about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 for some time.

Nintendo Switch 2’s processor has leaked!

A recent report, from a source known for industry leaks, RedGamingTech, has revealed critical details about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2’s processor. According to the report, the handheld console will be powered by a MediaTek processor that includes 2x Cortex-A4, 2x Cortex-A720, and 4x Cortex-A520 cores.

Previously, there were claims that the console would use the Nvidia Tegra T239 “Drake” processor. However, the common theme in the latest reports is that the new model will offer gaming performance close to that of the Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5. This suggests that relying on the approximately 6-year-old Tegra T239, which was part of the Tegra Orin processor family released in 2018, may not be feasible.

The leak also suggests that the console’s GPU could have 12 to 16 streaming multiprocessors (SM) based on the Ada Lovelace microarchitecture. It is also said that the console will feature 12 to 16 GB of RAM and backward compatibility with the Tegra X1.

Nintendo seems to be following a similar path with the Switch 2 as it did with the previous model. Recent reports claim that, contrary to expectations for an OLED screen, the console may come with an LCD panel. If these claims are accurate, it is likely that we may see an OLED version of the product a few years after its release.
